Family, Sports, Politics, Political Scum

When is it going to be over?

OK, so today's theme is either wanting something to end, or wondering when it will end.

The first team I ever cheered for is in the World Series. I love the Detroit Tigers. I'm not sure I love them as much as the Braves, but I love them because they were my first joy of sports. They are now down 3-1 against the Cards. Now, if they are going to lose the Series, I'm OK with the Cards. OK team, hasn't made me hate them. But I just keep wondering, can't it end better. I really want this to go 7 games. I want to cheer until the last minute. I watched last night, and remembered that this ends the baseball season. The thought did not bring joy to my heart. I love baseball. And I just don't want it to end. And I don't want the Tigers to lose.

But then again, if they refuse to catch the ball, I guess losing is what they'll have.

Now, I turn to politics, which might be my second favorite sport. I'm all for advertising which actually says this guy/gal voted this way (in real terms) on this issue. If you agree with them, good, if you don't, ok also. You get to make a choice about who you vote for. But, we are now seeing a level of negative advertising which is sickening in its content, and sad in its motivation. No longer are the parties concerned about who will best serve this nation, but who will WIN!!! So what we get are candidates who by the time they win election are cynical just because of the process. How can we expect to have these people truly serve us and our country if we beat the crap out of them during the process.

As you saw from my prior post, I have issues with the Republican National Committee. They know they are behind on the issues, so they are going to sling the worst mud ever. They are trying to appeal to people's fear, racism, bigotry, intolerance and hatred. It would do us all well to vote against any candidate who is supported by ads from this organization, just to teach them a lesson (if one can be taught).

So what I really want is for these ads to end. I'll enjoy Election Day just because all these ads are gone. And because I'll be able to watch election results all night long.

Finally, I watched Tracey and Elliott last night working on his hair. Trying to make it look just right. It was a joyous scene. They combed, brushed, worked the blow dryer, etc. I watched this over a few minutes and realized that as he gets older these scenes are going to become more and more infrequent. He is growing up, just as Jacob is. Sooner or later, and it will probably be sooner, they are both going to be grown-up. Their cuteness factor will only be for girls to decide.

And as that happens, I'll pray for it not to end.

Now, I'm off to work. Where, if all goes well today, I can say the AMEX project will be at an end.
